Information about joining the club, visiting the range, membership fees, and the application process.

Are you interested in joining St. Nicholas Rifle & Pistol Club?

There are two routes to becoming a member. The appropriate route depends on whether you hold a valid Firearms Certificate covering firearms that may be used on our ranges.

Application fee: All membership applications are subject to a non-refundable £30 application fee.

Do you hold a valid Firearms Certificate?

You may visit the club before deciding whether you would like to apply for membership.

  1. Visit the club
    Bring your shooting equipment and your valid Firearms Certificate.
  2. Speak to the duty Range Officer
    Ask for the duty Range Officer when you arrive.
  3. Sign in
    Enter your details in the visitors book.
  4. Pay the visitor fee
    Pay the Range Officer the £3 visitor fee.
  5. Try the club
    Subject to the Range Officer's instructions, you may join the shooting details and see whether the club is right for you.
  6. Decide whether to apply
    A non-member may visit the club a maximum of three times.
  7. Request an application form
    Ask for a membership application form to be sent to you.
  8. Complete the application
    Complete the membership application form in full when it arrives.
  9. Return the form and fee
    Return the completed application form and the non-refundable £30 application fee to the club for processing.
  10. Probationary membership
    If the application is accepted, the Membership Secretary will issue a Probationary Member card and discuss range safety and any appropriate training courses.

Probationary period

The normal probationary period for a new member is six months.

For applicants who already hold a valid Firearms Certificate, the probationary period may be waived or reduced at the discretion of the Committee.

Membership decisions

The Committee reserves the right to refuse an application for membership without providing a reason.

Membership fees

The current full adult membership fee is:

£150

Full senior and junior memberships are also available at reduced rates. Please contact the Membership Secretary for current eligibility criteria and fees.

£30

Non-refundable and payable when submitting a membership application.

Work parties and fee reductions

Members may be able to reduce their annual membership fee by taking part in club work parties.

Work parties take place several times throughout the year and may include:

Maintenance of firing points and butts
Repairs to target frames and target huts
Cutting back branches and shrubs
Removing dead tree limbs
Painting and general repairs
Other work that benefits the club
Members can currently claim a reduction of up to £30 from their membership fee for attendance at work parties.

Members with specialist skills that may benefit the club should speak to the Chief Range Officer.
